Bonjour, Merci et Au Revoir

Today we had a small fete in IUT. It's the end of the year fete. And that was the first and it'll be the only fete where everyone gathered together, us, the JPAs and the new group. We got a present from M. Bleis. It was Guide Routard Junior, like a lonely planet kind of guide. I wrote a poem in case i needed to give a speech, but i didn't. Oh well.

Bonne Soiree a tous, Merci, Au Revoir

3 semaines me paraît trop long. Ca me donne vraiment envie d'aller dormir.

Aaaaaargh!!!! Mon lit en Malaisie me manque vraiment.

Ah oui, Joyeux Anniversaire à mon frère. 25 ans. Tu te sens pas vieux par hasard? Parce que moi, déjà 18, ça me rend fou.

Les Poupees Russes; sequel to L'Auberge Espagnole Posted by Hello

Posted by Hello

The Russian Dolls; finding THE right girl, is like finding the smallest doll of the russian dolls. We continue asking is it this one or is there another one next. We can not go to the smallest straight away, instead, we have to go through one by one, and we do not stop looking for her, because we know she exists

I have sinned

Today I have sinned
I, myself couldn't believe that I did it.
How could I?
It's just wrong.
I will never forgive myself for having done it.
I had never ever done it before.
I feel like punishing myself.
How could I?
How dare I?
I promise that I will never do it again

I will never eat the whole 1 litre tub of coffee ice cream, never ever again.

my girl Posted by Hello

My Girl (1991)

Weeping willow with your tears running down
why do you always weep and frown?
Is it because she left you one day?
Is it because she could not stay?

She found shelter in your shade
You thought her laughter would never fade.
On your branches, she would swing
Do you long for the happiness that day would bring

Weeping willow, stop your tears
for there is something to calm your fears;
If you think death has ripped you forever apart
I know she'll always be in your heart.

Thomas : Vada?
Vada Yeah?
Thomas : Would you think of me?
Vada : For what?
Thomas : Well, if you don't get to marry Mr. Bixler.
Vada : I guess.

Comme d'habitude ... My way

I'm sure almost all of you have heard the song My Way, usually sang by Frank Sinatra. For those who are not familiar with it, the lyric goes like this;

And now, the end is near;
And so I face the final curtain.
My friend, I’ll say it clear,
I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain.
I’ve lived a life that’s full.
I’ve traveled each and ev’ry highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.
I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Yes, there were times,
I’m sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.

I’ve loved, I’ve laughed and cried.
I’ve had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.
To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
No, oh no not me,
I did it my way.

For what is a man,
what has he got?
If not himself,
then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!

But do you know that the song was taken from a french song called Comme d'habitude sang by Claude Francois? I'm sure not many know about this. For those who know this song, I'm sure that they thought that it was the French who took the song from the American. Unfortunately, that was not the case. It was the other way round. But the original song wasn't as motivating as the Sinatra's version. It was more about a relationship. Of which, if you translate, will give something like this

I woke up
I woke you up
But you didn't get up
As always
I covered you with the blanket
I was afraid that you were cold
As always
My hand caresses your hair
Almost despite me
As always
But you
You turn your back on me
As always

And then,
I dressed up quickly
I get out of the room
As always
Alone
I drank my coffee
I was late for work
As always
Without a sound
I got out of the house
Everything is gray outside
As alway
I'm cold
I unfold my collar
As always

As always
All day long
I will play prentend
As always, I will smile
As always, I will even laugh
As always, finally I will live
As always

And then, the day will pass by
I will get back home
As always
But you
You will be gone
You have not came back
As always
Alone, I will go to bed
On the big cold bed
As always
My tears, I will hide them away
As always

As always
even at night
I will play pretend
As always I will wait for you
As always you will come back
As always you will smile at me
As always

The rest of the song couln't be published since it might disturb some viewers

The end of a beginning

Like the song says:

Et qu'importe, ils ont pu
Toucher un jour
Le bonheur d'être ensemble
Goûter l'amour
Oublier un instant
L'enfer autour
Le souvenir de ce jour
Vaut plus que tout

Finally it has been a year since we came to France. A year full of discoveries. A year of laughters and of tears. One of the best years of my life. One of the best chapters of my life. At exactly 6.22 am, our flight MH 20 touched down at the Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. It was a cloudy and a cold morning. At that moment I could not even imagine to believe that i was already in France. I was in France to do my studies. Something that I've always wanted, and something that i don't think even my parents took it seriously. I mean who the hell could have imagine that someone might be doing accountancy in France? But i was there, on the 22nd morning.

Eventhough at first, i had my doubts, as time passed, I told myself that i wasn't that bad. I had the other 9 group members who are all formidable, each with his own character, I met a friend who became a best friend, I had 5 great french professors who are like our mothers and sisters here, and I was living in Colmar, with a city center that looks exactly like it had just popped out of a fairytale book.

Yes i had my downs throughout this year. For 6 months i had mood swings =) But with the help from everyone, from my friends in France and in Malaysia, form the professors and from the university's personels, and from my family, I regained my strength and I tried to find my old me. And luckily today, I have found myself, feeling good beneath my skin, and infact I've never felt better.

For almost a year, i asked myself, is this just a dream, or maybe a nightmare? Am I really here? What am i doing here? Should I really be here? Did I make the right choice? Or maybe I should've stayed in Malaysia doing my Ausmat. It took me a year to realise that what's done has been done. There's nothing anyone can change. And when i look back, I can see how far I've moved. It has been a slow crawl, but I've moved. I can speak French, and even some basic survival German. I've only discovered a small part of Europe, but it was still a discovery. I've lost 10kgs. I eat more vege than I've ever eaten in my whole life in Malaysia (except for green ones though).

What's rest unanswered is, what's going to happen next? Que sera, sera. And just like what my brother said, we can only plan, but God's plans are always better.

Joyeux Anniversaire a tous.

On recapitule

Aihh.. dah 2 minggu tak update blog. Busy busy busy. Sangatlah busy

12 Juin (dimanche)

Went cycling in the foret communale de Neuland with Fifi, Irfan and Toh. Saw Toh riding a bike for the first time. We followed a normal route at first but then we took a wrong turn and somewhat got lost. We traced back our tracks and got back to Colmar using the backdoor route, and we saw a living llama sitting peacefully in top of a small hill behind Super U.

13 Juin (lundi)
Voltolini memang dengki dengan aku. We did a test last two weeks and today we got the results. I got only 13/20. I admit that i didn't actually answer the third question, the way he wanted it to be answered, but for the other questions, i think i had everything that he wanted, but just because i wrote something extra, that to him 'is not necessary' he didn't give me full mark for those questions. Oh well....

Lucky enough for me.I'll be skipping his afternoon class. Me and Fadhil will be following Bleis and his wife to Paris, to welcome the new PEKOM group tomorrow.

We took the bus to Paris from the IUT at around 2. It took us around 6 hours to reach Paris. We only stopped once at some station out of no where. Sommesous or Soussommes or something like that. I wondered why they didn't take the Autoroute from Strasbourg. But my question was answered a few hours later when Bleis was talking to the driver. He said that even if it's faster, it's longer, so higher fuel consommation (how to spell that again in English?). And also, we have to pay for the Autoroute. He said from Paris to Strasbourg is around 50 euros.I don't understand why to they complain. I mean it's the same amount we pay back in Malaysia from KL to JB. In ringgit of course.

The next sentence can only be said in BM; Kitorang duduk dekat Hyatt.

Yeah we did. Dekat Hyatt. And furthermore it's Premiere Classe. The name says it all. Rather Premier Prix to me (those who live in France should know what does it mean). After a short dissappointment after seeing my room, we went to dinner at the hotel's restaurant. Madame Bleis recommended me to take the Hoki Fish. Which is not bad at all if you neglige the size of the portion. Only a cat can be satisfied with that portion. And the waitress forced me to take a cocktail (non-alcool, bien sur), which was a combinaison of orange, pineapple and grapefruit juice. It was the horriblest drink i've ever tasted. Luckily it was served with ice. At least it could neutralise the taste.

14 Juin (Mardi)

Went to the airport at 6.20, they came out at 7 something. Sylvie was there as well. Then we went visiting Paris on bus, we stopped at Trocadero to take pictures of Eiffel, then we went up Eiffel (that makes my third time), We took some pictures and we went to our hotel, or hostel near Saint-Anne Hospital for the Mentally Distirbed people. On the way we saw some hospital personels striking. What an impression for the newcomers eh?

We were joined by Pierron at lunch. Then we went up to our rooms. It was either a room for 4 or a room for 6, of course i took the room for 4. At 3 we went out again to le Musee de Grevin, some sort of Madame Tussaud's in Paris. Some statues were surprisingly well done, some are not even worth looking at. Bleis asked me to take the new group to visit anywhere in Paris, but he and his wife wouldn't be following. So i borught them to the Louvre, but it was closed because some company called AXA (hehe) is having some sort of a party in the Louvre. So we walked from the Louvre to la Place de la Concorde instead. Then we took the Metro back to our hotel/hostel.

15 Juin (mercredi)

Yayy, got back to Colmar. Oh how i missed Colmar already.

19 Juin (dimanche)

We went hiking with our french professors today. Now i understand what Stephen Clark meant in his book 'A year in the Merde'. The French are so obsessed with their health. There as this one prof who applied sun block, anti-mosquito cream, moisturizing cream, and a water-based freshening spray (or however you call it). Another prof told her "You're going to drown in all those products"

We walked and walked. But with us around, you can never enjoy the calmness of nature. It's impossible. We sang, made animal noises, talked loudly... i pity the other hikers. They came all the way to get away from the noises in a city, but they were unfortunate enough to hike at the same time with us.

We stopped and had our lunch by a lake. I don't know how it happened, but Dinie accidentally (a word that's synonymous with Dinie) sat on a torny plant and Taufiq sat on a piece of shit. Ahaha. Kesian. We split after lunch. Those who wanted a more hardcore hike, took a route that looked very steep from the spot where we had lunch, others took the route that we used to climb up. Bien sur, I stayed with Giovanna, Nicole and Sylvianne, and we took the 'cool' route.

We arrived at the check point 30 minutes before the other group. Luckily Sylvianne brought a mat. We just sat there, relaxed and had a small chat (aka mengumpat).

Then we went to Patricia's house to have a drink and to eat ice cream. I was so exhausted that i slept like a baby that night.

Notre boite est pleine d'ethune

Today is the last day of our JEU d'ENTREPRISE. It's the end of our one week adventure with the French. It was quite tough to mix with them at first, but au fur et a mesure, they were quite fun to be friends with actually.

We only had a 2 hours slot with them today. And it was their last class before the summer holidays. So eventually, no one felt like working. We had to make a resume/synthese of our entreprise. Since they already did it yesterday afternoon, my group didn't have anything to do. You wanna know what we did instead? We did a quiz from Cosmopolitain that Amandine brought. Ahahaha. It's a quiz for women actually, but Sly and Simone said we can always try to be in their shoes. We did until the end but didn't even bother to calculate our points.

Then, at 9 everyone went to the amphitheatre for the summary/closing ceremony. My group won the first prize for Marche A. We got a certificate, a pen, and a CD pocket. Oh yeah, my enterprise generated up to 4.5 million euros of cash by the end of the 6th period, while the others... well let's just say they didn't make tant d'argent. Ehehehe. Then there was this one group where there's only 2/3 guys working while the others were missing. And since even with this problem the group managed to get the 3rd place in their market, they received a cap and a packet of sweets. Unfortunately, today, only one of them came, he was the only one who got it. And everyone applauded for him.

After that we went outside and we took pictures, get their email addresses and all. We were invited to their picnic, and we were told it'd be at the Place Rapp. So me, ustat and khairul decided to go join them before going to the mosque. We waited for 15 minutes but there was no one. We i got back, i chatted with Sly, and he said that actually when they invited us, they hadn't decide yet where to have it but the most probable would be Place Rapp. But they had it in a friend's house instead. Tant Pis.

When i chatted with Sly, i felt awkward since he was using the formal french while i used the french that we use to chat online. Some of the french abbrev.

c'est= c
il faut que = il fo ke
tu es = t'es = t
qu'est-ce que = keske
jusqu'a = jus'k
d'y aller = di aller
elle = l
avec= ac
a plus tard = a plus = @+

courtesy of Claire and Sly

and i think these are just the basics. more to be explored.

A guy walked through a park one day. The grass was green, the birds whistle in their nests up in the trees, and the flowers were blooming. It was spring. Then he saw a flower that was about to bloom in a few days time. He somehow liked it. He found that the flower was not like the others. He believes that, when it blooms, it'll be the most beautiful of all. He told himself, then when the flower blooms, he would pluck it, and keep it for himself. He would take care of it, until the last petal drops. So everyday, he walked by the flower to see if it has bloomed yet. One day it happened. He was in the park, and he saw the flower bloomed. He decided to go and pluck it. He ran towards the flower. But just as he was about to pluck it, the stem already in his hands, he thought to himself, 'Should i pluck it? If i do, it might die, i could not give it all that it needs to live like what the earth is giving to it. But if i don't someone else might pluck it'. So he decided to wait, and he removed his hands. Everyday, from that day onwards, he would walk by the flower, with a question in his head 'to pluck or not to pluck?'. One day he noticed that there was another guy who looked interested with the flower. He told himself that the guy might have the same idea as he does, to guard the flower to himself. He saw the guy walking by the flower everyday. His heart wanted to just go and pick up the flower, but his mind said no. He was afraid of that guy. He was afraid that the guy might just pluck the flower in anyday. And he knows that he would be sad to watch the flower go. It was the first time in his life that he had ever liked something so much...

if you're in his shoes what would you do?

The most touching ad i've ever seen on TV.

"Most of you wouldn't understand this. It's normal, it's written in Nepalese. But what's abnormal is that, there are also nepalese children who doesn't understand it"

With a background music in Nepalese with a text written in Nepalese.

Another TV ad that i like is TOTAL's. Actually i like all TOTAL's ads.

There's a car arriving in a petrol station. A worker looked from inside the shop, and said 'It's her'. He hid himself, while acting like a guy who's in love with a girl, and who's waiting the girl to love him in return. Then the girl hesitated between Diesel and Diesel Excellium. First she took the Excellium and the worker, spying from the shop said 'No!', then she took the normal and he said 'Yes!'. In the end the girl took the Excellium and the worker turned away, dissappointed.

'With the same amount of fuel, Excellium will take you further. So that's why we don't see each other very much anymore'

Sakit tengkuk...

They showed a documentary on Myanmar today on France 3. They showed the giraffe-necked-ladies. And suddenly i had a neckache.

I'm thinking of moving my unimportant stuff by this week. And i have loads of them. Mostly winter clothes and books (not that books are unimportant, but...). The problem is to find boxes for them. And once that's done, I have to find a way to bring the boxes to the post office. And all this needs to be done as soon as possible since Syazwan will be going back in a few weeks time. Anyway it was his idea to stock my stuff in his house. Siapa suruh offer kan? Habis la penuh harta benda aku. Should i bring along my TV or should i change? Should i brong my pinggan-mangkuk-periuk-belanga or should i just leave it here? Aihh pening kepala pulak nak pindah ni.

Today we had the first session of the JEU d'ENTREPRISE. Didn't really go as i imagined when i was on my bed last night waiting to doze off. Last night i imagined that we would be chatting gleefully while doing our work, and then after the game we would go for a drink, then at the restaurant we would meet Tom Hanks who's here in Colmar while waiting to shoot his Da Vinci Code this month in Paris, and he would propose to me to act with him in the movie, and while shooting for the movie, Audrey Tautou and i were abducted by the peruvian terrorists who sent us to work in a farm near the chilean border. Wait. Did i imagined that or did i dreamt that?

Well, the reality was way far from that.

Berikut adalah dialog ketika permainan itu berlangsung. (...) bermaksud waktu berlalu tanpa sebarang dialog yang penting.

Cikgu: Ok Kimi, awak dulu. GROUP A 1!
Selepas berbalas senyuman, mereka mula berborak sesama mereka. Lalu Kimi pun berkata
Kimi: Err... Kan elok kalau kita berkenalan dulu
Student 1: Wow.. (dengan nada, budak ni biar betul)
Lalu kami pun memperkenalkan diri masing masing
(...)
Student 1: 8 darab 6, 42 kan?
(...)
Student 1: 19.50+ 30 + 12... 1 campur 3, 4,... (sambil tekan kalkulator)
Kimi: 61
Student 1: Uihh, camner awak kira laju? Lagi pun salah, 61.50 sebenarnya
(...)
Student 2: Aaaa cepat cepat ada sejam je lagi ni.
(...)
Student 2: Aaaa cepat cepat ada setengah jam lagi je ni
(...)
Student 2: Aaaa cepat cepat ada 5 minit je lagi
(...)
Student 3:Ni apa kita kena buat dengan kertas ni? (sambil menunjukkan kertas Akaun Untung Rugi). Awak pandai buat tak benda alah ni? Ah, awak buat lah
Kimi pun buat
(...)
Kimi: Ni macam mana ni,betul ke tak check kan?
Student 1: Tak per kitorang pecaya kat kau.

Lepas 20 minit bersurai, dah sampai rumah dah pun, tiba-tiba teringat, tak letak Belian. Patutla untung sampai 368 000. Cit. Panik-panik. Abislaa diorang bunuh aku Rabu ni. Apa lagi, call cikgu. Tapi cikgu takde. Ahh.. leave message, harap-harap dier tukar aa.

Everyone got their placement. Some will go by 2, some will go alone. I got Lille. That's what i wanted. And I'm happy. Am I? Of course i'm happy to get what i wanted, and to see that almost everyone got what they wanted. But, it's already 3 June, which means we only have 3 months left together, minus a month in Malaysia, we'll only have 2 months to spend together. How sad to see everyone go their own way.

" I have a rainbow in my heart. I have a sun that begins to shine, and at the same time, the rain begins to fall" ~ Tintin (the blue lotus)

Me and Toh will be Lillois
Irfan will be Blaisois

Fifi and Dinie will be Lyonnais
Brian and Khairul will be Havrais
Fadhil will be Grenoblais

Ustat will be Toulousain
Taufiq will be Castelroussin

And there will be no more Colmarien

Semua yang telah terjadi yang mengajar kita
Perlu diambil ikhtibarnya
Segala yang diimpikan atau diharapkan tak semua
Menjadi nyata
Namun setiap yang sukar ketemunya sinar
Begitulah kebesarannya
Aku rela berkorban untukmu
Kita berjanji
Walau apa yang kan terjadi
Meneruskan perjuangan ini
Seluas alam semesta persoalan kita
Kehidupan dan cabarannya
Setinggi ruang angkasa
Begitulah harapan kita
Abadi, aman dan bahagia
Dalam membuka lembaran baru
Ku perlu tahu kau sentiasa bersamaku
Walau bertubi rintangan kita kan gagahi
Demi mengecap nikmat duniawi

Pontianak Harum Sundal Petang

"Menyentuh mengenai penampilan Juliana Banos sebagai pontianak, Yusof berkata raut wajah pelakon tersebut lebih sesuai berbanding pelakon lain."
utusan malaysia 2 jun

Dengan kata lain, muka Juliana Banos buruk macam pontianak?

Yesterday the Dutch went to vote for the European Constitution, and as expected, they voted NO. But what's not expected is the 23% margin between the YES and the NO. 61% of the votes went to the NO camp while only 38% went to the YES. A much stronger NO than the French's. So everyone's wondering now what's next? Yeah, what's next?

Yesterday we had Marketing. Before leaving, she gave us a briefing in the JEU d'ENTREPRISE that we're having next week. It's basically a game where 5 people group together to set up a business, and plan their business strategies and see what are the outcomes when they put them into action. It's interesting. The problem is, we have to mix around with the French. So each of us will be placed among 4 other French. Arrrghh. Macam mana ni? I ni kan pemalu orangnya. Ahahaha. First, we're limited with our language skills, and then, we're also limited with our management and commerce skills. Matilah gua...
