Plagiarisme

Since Syazwan is publishing 20 facts about himself on his blog, I would write one too.

So you thought you know me well. Let's see if you knew these facts about me.

1. I listen to English, Malay, French, Italian, Hindi and Spanish songs (in that order)
Yes, Hindi as well. Why not? I mean as long as I don't get stuck in front of the television every Saturday watching Panggung Sabtu, I don't see why not. Furthermore they have nice lyrics. But that's not the point. The point is, I somehow find it pitiful for people who only listens to songs in only one or two languages. There's a whole world of music out there waiting to be discovered. You might not understand what the hell the singer is singing, but it's good to listen to something different once in a while.

2. I have never been in any sporting houses other than yellow.
Eversince I was in kidergarten I have always been a yellow house member. Kindergarten, primary school, lower secondary and higher secondary. I was however in the blue house for a while when I was in Jasin. But since I've changed my course to Accounts from Biology, I had to change homerooms as well, which as a result, I had to change houses too. Glad to be yellow.

3. I have never been to the other side of the world.
In other words, I have never set foot on the American continent. Twice, I was so close of going to the United States. First was in 1996. But then my brother was born. Not blaming him for that. Couldn't postpone the visit since there was the financial crisis in 1997. The Second was in 2002. Alas, I was in a boarding school, so I couldn't absent myself for a few days to attend my brother's graduation. So the whole family went without me. But don't worry, one of these days I shall be going to Canada. One of these days.

4. I hate taking offs.
I am lucky enough to be able to travel around. Many people complaint about long flights, but I don't. It's called travelling. I actually enjoy long flights. But what I do not enjoy is the taking off. If you ever have the chance of flying with me, you will notice that when the planes begin to take off, I will hold on tightly on the armrest, my head and hands will get all sweaty, and my mouth will begin muttering prayers. I just don't like it. But once they turn off the seatbelt sign, I'm OK. Another thing I hate about flying is when the plane is in a turbulance zone. But let's not talk aout it shall we.

5. I have problems with my memory.
No, I don't keep forgetting things, I mean I do sometimes, but that is not really a big problem, the problem is I d not forget things. Especially when it comes to embarrassing moments. Sometimes when I'm lying on my bed, waiting to fall asleep, I'll have flashbacks of my embrrassing moments, and these flashbacks go back as far as I was 5. Whenever this happens, I will go 'Awwww... Isk' and I'll cover my face with my hands. So next time when you see me doing this, you'll know that I just had a flashback.

6. Burger is not my favourite food.
Most people believe that my burger is my favourite food. I was even a legend when I was back in Jasin. 'The guy who likes burger too much'. But no, that is not my favourite food. My favourite food is pizza. Any pizza, but no seafoods and fresh cream please.

7. I love to sing.
This might not be new to some, but yeah, I love to sing. I sing when I cook, I sing when I surf the net, I sing when I'm in the shower, and I sing while I'm walking to school when there's no one around. Normally when I have a music source (the computer or mp3 player), I'll sing the song that's playing, but if not, I'll sing to any tunes that came to me (even if it's a pop yeh yeh tune).

8. I do not like to waste my time waiting for the exam to end.
This has been a practice since I was in Jasin. Whenever I've done answering question, I will aither sleep, or get the hell out of the exam hall. People told me it's not a good thing to do. But hey, When you don't know the answer, you just don't know the answer. What I'll do in an exam is, try to answer all the questions in the first round. In the second round I'll try to squeeze every memory I have to answer some questions. And in the third round, I'll use logic instead of facts and I'll try to see if there's any question that might help in answering the questions I'm stuck with. In the fourth round, I'll recheck if I left any questions unnoticed, or if I've made any silly mistakes. Then, I'll either put my head down, or put a hand up. I do this to avoid having doubts about my answers. I have had experience where I marked the right answer, but then I stared too long at the question that I began to have doubts, and I changed my answer to a wrong one.

9. I hate wasting my weekend sleeping.
Most people disagree with me about this. Weekend should be the time to sleep, to wtach up with all the sleeping hours you've missed during the weekdays. Unfortunately, I do not share this opinion. Weekends are the only time where you get to do things that you couldn't do during the week. Yes, sleeping is one thing, but there's more than that. You can go watch movies, go shopping, hangout with friends, read a book or build something. Although sometimes I do doze off during the weekend, that doesn't mean I enjoyed it. I'll wake up feeling gulty to myself for wasting a few hours of my weekend.

10. I hate long things that crawl.
I don't know if I'm a phobiac or not, but I certainly can not stand watching snakes, worms, caterpillar or centipedes. Looking them move just makes me feel .... uurghh. Change the subjet!

11. I can watch over and over again movies that I like.
In fact it was this time of year, ten years ago, that I got addicted to The Sound of Music. I watched it like almost 30 or 40 times. But I'm no longer addicted to it. Then there was Marry Poppins, which I saw almost 20 times. There's also Amélie Poulain, Charlies and the Chocolate Factory, Love Actually, Harry Potter and Bend It Like Beckham. I saw each of them at least three times already.

12. I have a collection of Harry Potter and Tintin stuff.
I have the complete series of Tintin comics, except for Tintin and Alph-Art, which was the last comic unfinishedly drew by Hergé. All of them are in a single comic book form except for four, which are in the 3 in 1 form. I also have a box full of Harry Potter merchandise, which most of them were collected when the first movie came out, and most of them were bought when I was in Australia for the year end Holidays in 2001. I however, have stop collecting these stuff, since I find it pointless and I'm tired of trying to catch up with it.

13. I want to be a historian or a linguiste.
After SPM, I have actually considered taking History. But then my dad told me that I better do something else first, then do History of I wanted to. I'm definitely getting a degree in History one day, even it means I have to wait until I retire from work. I also wanted to be a linguiste. I love learning new languages, that don't involve learning new alphabets (ie. Japanese or even Greek). So far I've attended or am attending French and German classes. Currently (and slowly) I'm learning Spanish and Italian online, though I'm still stuck at lesson 3. I also sometimes amuse myself by writing sentences in Latin.

14. I also have other unusual ambitions when I was young.
When I was young, I too, had a lot of ambitions. Some of them are rather usual like being a teacher, a pilot, an architect, a historian, a linguiste, an actor, a writer, an accountant, a businessman or even an engineer. I have never thought of being a doctor. And some of my ambitions are rather unusual, that kids usually don't have them as ambitions. These include, a train-driver, a taxi-driver, a tourist guide, a painter (though I knew I won't go far with this one), a cashier (they get to touch all those buttons) , and even a phone operator. Weird huh?

15. I am scared of ghosts.
Laugh all you want, but I admit I am scared of ghosts. In my grandmother's house in Johore, the toilet is outside. If I ever need to go to the toilet at night, I will keep my cool when I go, but I'll run as fast as I can coming back. If you ever go to the cinema with me to watch a horror movie, you might notice that I will grab any pamphlets that they're distributing outside the cinema or buy a large popcorn.

16. I was supposed to be born a day later.
I was expected to be delivered on the 28 July 1987. But since the doctor who was incharge of my mom had something to do on the 28, I was delivered on the 27 instead. You see, even at my birth I was asked to do something that I didn't want to. But thanks to the doctor I have a lovely birth date 27 07 87.

17. I'm always seated beside the wings.
As far as I can remember, whenever I fly, I always get a seat near the wings. I never got the seats just after the Business Class or the seats right at the back of the plane. It may be good thing since I'm on the most stable part of the aircraft, but what's the point of seating next to the window when all you can see is steel plates?

18. It has never been all A's for me.
I passed the PTS exams and managed to skip Year 4. I got 8 A's in PMR and that allowed me to go to MRSM Jasin. I got 10 A's for my SPM, and that allowed me to get this scholarship and continue my studies overseas. Have you noticed that I didn't say anything about my UPSR? That's because I got only 4 A's for it. I got a C fro my BM Penulisan. How embarrassing. Most people didn't get A for their Science,Maths or English. And that is understandable. But this was different. It was BM and it was a C, not a B, a C. I was like 'THUD!' falling face down on the ground. But that actually gave me the motivation to improve myself, and thankfully I managed to get through the exams that followed.

19. I do judge a book by its cover
Literally. Whenever I feel like buying a book to read, and do not have any recommendation from anyone I know, what I'll do is go to a bookshop and find a book with a front cover and a title that attracts my attention. Then I'll look at the small text resuming the story in less than 15 lines. If it pleases me, and meets my budget, I'll buy it.

20. I do not take my BCG
When I was in Year 6, everyone else had their BCG shot, but since I was only 10 at that time, I was not allowed to take it. I planned to take it later in a private clinic, but the day never came. So until now, I'm still vulnerable to the disease that the BCG is suppose to protect me from, what ever the disease might be.

So there you go. Now you know something more about me.
