Rombongan Cik Kiah ke Kilang Pyrex

Yesterday, we had a class trip (lawatan sambil belajar) to a factory in Saint-Omer, an hour bus trip from Lille. It was a glass factory named ArcInternational. For those who know brands such as Mikasa, Salviati, Luminarc and Studio Nova, well, they all come from this factory. I thought Arcopal came from here as well, but I was wrong. Pyrex is one of their products as well, but it is produced in another factory.

The tour begins at 1430 and we arrived, unfrenchly, an hour earlier, so the professors allowed us to visit the factory's store. There's nothing speacial actually, since almost everything is kitchenware, but mind you, they are at factory prices. Plus, since we're visitors, we were given 20% discount. When I learned about all the discounts that we're getting, I imagined two makciks gawking at the wide selection of kitchenware, at discounted prices, discussing whichPyrex to buy (or commonly known as Pinggan Perek).

The tour began with a video presentation of how the glasses are being made. It's amazing to know that eventhough more and more things are made outof plastics, we can never avoid using things made out of glass. We then began the tour of the factory. The factory was hot and noisy. So to prevent any legal actions concerning loss of hearing, the factory provides us with earplugs, the one that they sell at the blood-choking (cekik darah) price of RM10 at the F1 Grand Prix in Sepang. They are bruight orange and very squidgy and they look like a witch's pointed hat, you can even trick people into thinking that it's a bubble gum. The tour was interesting, but only after 10 minutes, you'll get bored, and feel drowsy because of the heat and the fume. So we just sat by the window, where there was a ventilation shade. We talked and talked, and we got bored. So we played a game with our earplugs. We have to come out with as many idea as we can using our earplugs. If you watch 'Whose Line Is It Anyway', it resembles much like the 'Props' game. It started innocently. Some use it as noseplugs, devil's horns and a popping zit. But the French are the least 'innocent' people on earth. And they came out with so many stupid ideas. Luckily, someone came out with something else to do. So the game ended. Luckily.

On the way back, I called Dinie to ask him when he's going back to Malaysia. It was a huge mistake. My classmates can never let me make a phone call in BM without making noises, mocking the way I speak BM. When Dinie asked me what was all that noise he's hearing, I told him that there are a bunch of crazy monkies who have never taken a shower since last month. They, of course, tried to mock me. And when I ended my call, they asked me what was I saying when I was on the phone, and pointing towards them. I just said, 'Oh nothing, I was just talking about the countryside'.

Sans un geste et sans un soupir ;

Pourtant lutter et te défendre ;

Si tu peux supporter d'entendre tes paroles
Sans mentir toi-même d'un mot ;

Sans qu'aucun d'eux soit tout pour toi ;

Si tu sais méditer, observer et connaître,
Sans jamais devenir sceptique ou destructeur ;
Penser sans n'être qu'un penseur ;

Sans être moral ni pédant ;

Seront tous jamais tes esclaves soumis,
