living a quiet life
I am currently having my Easter Break for two weeks. I have cancelled my plans to go to Toulouse and Blois since I've used that budget to go to Nice the other day. Furthermore I have tonnes and tonnes of texts to read for the up coming exams after the break. I have texts that are at least 2 inches thick to read for my Psychology, Sociology and Survey subjects. So I think staying quietly in Lille would be the best. After all I've been travelling each time there's a break eversince I came to Lille. I think I should give it a rest.
But that doesn't mean I'm going to glue my butt on this chair of mine, doing nothing else but reading. Monday, for example, I went to see a 3 movies in a row (which I promised myself I will not do ever again). Tuesday, I went to Gand (or Gent) in Belgium with Dhira, a JPA-student-from-La Rochelle-who-happens-to-be-Dzarul's-second-cousin. Gand is very nice. Nicer than Bruges actually. I was wrong to underestimate Gand by allowing only 3 hours between arriving and goingback. There are still parts of the city that we didn't go to, like the marina along the canal. Then later in the afternoon, I brought her shopping around Lille (the usual places: Vieux Lille, Nous Savons Tous, and Rue de Bethune). That evening the four of us (Dzarul, Dhirah, Ajak and Me) did the usual ritual that we always do whenever a visitor comes to Lille; makan KFC.
I still don't understand why does it seem that almost everyone in France knows the song 'Singing in the rain'. If you're with a French when it rains, and especially when he or she or you have an umbrella, there's a very high chance that he or she will sing that particular song. It just doesn't make any sense.
