I dream of a white christmas... i mean hari raya
Err... i feel that it's been quite some times since i last updated this blog. It's not that nothing happened but... anyway here goes today's
Last Saturday (urrgh 2 days ago), we went to Maggie's house for a dinner. It has been postponed since the start of september. Finally, we were actually having the dinner. Her house was small, a bit smaller than i imagined but it was nicely decorated. I doubt that she allows children to her house since there were so many little fragile ornaments all around. At first we didn't talk very much and we (read:I) were busy with the apple juice she served.
My heart was beating very fast when i sat at the table. What on earth would she serve us? She came with a small trolley (it's a table actually, that has 4 wheels). Taufiq, as usual, he talks without thinking, said that she looked like a nurse . I'm not sure if she heard what he said, or maybe she pretended that she didn't hear it. We had pumpkin soup with croustons (or is it croutons) for entree. It was delicious. I thought that pumpkin tastes worse but i was wrong. It doesn't taste like pumpkin at all. I like it a lot, but i didn't have a second serving, to save some space for the rest of the meal.
The main dish was beef with chickpeas and spinach. Err... i didn't actually eat the spinach since i asked brian to only put the chickpeas in my plate. But the were some little strands that managed to escaped to my plate. It didn't taste horrible, but still... She served a lot of beef. By the second serving i had a headache. It's been nearly 5 months since i last ate beef. So i decided not to take any risk and ate only the part where the meat is tender and not the semi tender nor the fat part.
Then it was time for cheese. Oh! i just love french cheese. I like emmental, but to them emmental is just some stupid cheese that has no taste and only children or people who don't appreciate good food eat it. I tried a little of the blue cheese and it was horrible. I can never eat that again. I took as well a portion of a cream cheese with herbs. It was delicious and i took another slice.
From what we learn in class, in a french restaurant, they usually serve either cheese or dessert. But that evening we had both. A lemon sponge cake, an apple pie and also a dish that has mixed berries and crusted caramel. And i was very full at that time. I ate the sponge cake and i didn't finish my berry thingy. That was the most unhealthy meal i've ever eat in like.... 2 months. The main dish was meat, and too much of it, then there was the cheese, and also the dessert. Urrghh. But it was very delicious. During the meal, we talked about so many things. Malaysia, french culture, farts... yes farts. There was a fart sound in the middle of the meal. Twice. Some said that it was really a fart, but i think it was a chair.
We were there since 19.30 and at 22.30 we're still there. She looked a little worried. I think she thought to herself ' when will these bloody malaysians leave?'. When she said more and more that we have to walk a little further than usual to get back (because we were very full), I took that as a signal and asked brian to make the first move... (getting up i mean). When everyone got up, some idiots.. heheh (jangan marah haa nanti cepat tua)... stopped by at her bookcase and took some book and read. Finally, after 5 minutes, we were on our way to the door. She followed us to the entrance and we exchanged thank yous (is it correct to say that?) and we left.
And nothing exciting happened on sunday and today.
Oh yeah. Today the temperature is in between 0 and 7. And we might be having a white hari raya this year. Should I be excited or not?

Maya : Undoubtedly, food is your passion. Just look at yourself when u talk about food..Hehehe..:).. And about white Raya thinging, I think it's cool cuz u can experience a kind of different atmosphere during Raya...but, you surely gonna miss rendang & ketupat...Nyam3x
really? do i always talk like that when i talk about food? anyway, i wont be missing rendang and ketupat. but i'll miss tempeyek and kerepek ubi
