Holidays in 5 countries
I've been away from Lille for a week and I've been to 5 countries within that period of time. Pretty impressive eh? I've spent my holidays in Italy, France, Switzerland, and Germany. Oh and what's the 5th country? Vatican City of course!
On the same day I came back from Italy, we had a dinner at Nicole's place in Mulhouse. We were not the only guests, there were also Vincent's brother and a married couple, Pierre and Véronique, both of which are Nicole's and Vincent's friends. Nicole gave each of us a present; the little miss and mister book. They were individually wrapped, so we had to choose a book randomly. And what a surprise, I got the Mr Maigre (Thin) book. Nicole was kind enough to offer me to pick another book, but since it's was randomly picked, I think I'm gonna stick to it.
The next day, on christmas day itself, we had lunch at Patricia's house. We arrived at around 1200 and left at around 1800. 6 hours of non stop eating. She served us turkey (which she bought from the same Halal shop as we usually go) and potatoes. Her son Arnaud was also there, and Pat's mom joined us for dessert. That night we watched Saw 1 together, something that we haven't done together for quite a long time.
The 26th is a public holiday in Lorraine and Alsace, as they were both under the german influence once, and they stick to that tradition. So most of the shops are closed just like in Germany and Switzerland. But we decided to go to Zürich eventhough the shops were not open. Unlike Genève, Zürich has nothing interesting. We just walked along the river to the lake, and then back to the train station on the other side of the river. Instead of going back at 1900 as we planned, we came back with the 1600 train.
We had lunch together with all the professors on the 27th in Breisach, a town off the french-german border. We ate at a turkish restaurant. We then climbed the hill to get to the church on top of the hill. It was snowing heavily, so the view wasn't clear at all. Then we went to Giovanna's house for tea (although we're stuffed with turkish food). The profs dropped us off in front of the Colmar train station, and we said our goodbyes again. I promised them I would be back at least once when the TGV is completed in 2007. Then we ate together at Helmi's Kebab. Another activity that we haven't done in a long time.
The next day we went to Freiburg in Germany. I shopped for some clothes since it's much cheaper than in France. I bought some t shirt and some jumper. The usual kebab shop where we always go when we're in Freiburg has closed down. So we had to find an alternative shop. It wasn't as good as the old one.
I got back my DELF result. It was OK i guess. Though I was hoping for something different.

It has been a great holiday. A memorable one. Makes me don't want to leave Colmar. But hey, life must go on. And so here I am, back in Lille.
