Siapa LU? Danone. ingat tak iklan ni?

Sad... today we said goodbye to Karine, our chemistry prof. But she'll still be around, teaching the JPAs and the HSE department. Before that, we had a chimie test, and i think i didn't do really well. I don't know why, maybe i was too... gemuruh. Pff, luckily i managed to do well in the first test, at least it can cover up my low marks that i'm expecting.

Beware of the French!!! The French advertising of course.

Yesterday we had a business strategy class with Emelie. In the morning we did a case study on LEGO. It's been quite a while since i last heard the word LEGO. And indeed, even LEGO is effected by the infamous globalisation. They're losing their share in the brick-toy market and a big portion in the general toy market. Well, they can't blame anyone, their toys are just damn expensive. And it's also true that they've lost their popularity among kids today. I think that ven if i ask my brother, he wouldn't have the slightest idea what LEGO is. Kids nowadays. All they know is PS2 and computers.

In the afternoon we started our marketing class with her as well. We talked about Taillefine, a line of products by Danone, for the busy-working-likes-to-eat-but-wants-to-stay-slim class of women. Most of their products are yogurts and biscuits. On their biscuit box, they stated 'Only 12% Fat' and '68 Calories each portion'. Anyone who saw this product will say 'Wow! only 12 % fat and 68 Calories!'. But how true is it?

A study has been made and it shows that it's true that Taillefine contains only 12% fat. Only 12 %. A normal shopper would think 'Ah, that means the other biscuits must've more than 12'. Not entirely true. The study showed that 12% is the normal fat percentage in biscuit and even higher than some biscuits. So the word 'only' does not mean that they have the lowest fat percentage. Same goes with 68 calories per portion. Yes it's true it's 68 calories. But, each portion is much smaller than the usual portion. So of course you're taking less calories, because you're eating a smaller portion.

Then i told her that currently i'm taking BIO yogurt and Actimel. And she asked me why do i buy these things. For the yogurt, i said because it says BIO and that it'll makes you feel good in yourself. She said, how would i measure how good i'm feeling? Maybe it's because of something that I'm going through. But she said, at least, BIO says it has 0% fat. Then about Actimel. She went online and went searching for Actimel. Well, it has more sugar than soda for each 100ml, and more fat. But, Actimel has never said that it has no sugar nor no fat. They advertise saying that it has something that helps your defense system.

So when you buy something, even if they claim something, always compare it to other products to see if ever they're trying to con you. Le monde est plein de cons!
